I’m back in Ontario. Staying with my parents on their couch, and visiting people I wanted to see before I go back west. Yesterday my mum had a meeting with her brothers about my Nan’s estate and things. Before she went she asked me if there was anything at all I wanted from her house. The first thing that came to mind was this clock that used to drive me insane with it’s ticking. When I was sick as a kid (to sick to go to school), my mother would take me to spend the day with my Nan in Port Colborne, before going to work for the day. My Nan always insisted I nap if I was feeling ill, and I’ll never forget how the clock drove me insane while I was lying there trying to fall asleep. Unfortunately, that clock died years ago, so I asked for the only two other things I could think of. Above is one of them. It’s a game that I loved to play when I went to visit my Nan and Pa. You push a button to try and make a dolphin catch hoops on his nose. It was always hard to do when I was younger, but yesterday my mum brought it home and after topping up the water inside I managed to stack all the hoops twice in under 10 minutes.
The other thing i hoped to have, was a little desk sign my Pa always had sitting next to his chair and radio. My Pa wasn’t a very mobile person when I was young, and he spent most of his time in his chair, smoking Craven A’s lit with A&P matches, watching NASA stuff over satellite, and playing with his radios. He was a HAM radio op for years, and always had this sign on his desk with his call sign. I remember him telling me stuff about HAM radio, and how he and my Nan would travel and meet other HAM radio people, and I thought it was so neat. I couldn’t remember all the digits, but I always remembered the first three VE3….
Now I just need a house to keep these in.
