I have to stop staring at monitors for 14+ hours a day.

It’s taken me the better part of two days to completely finish this model, and it’s still not perfect, but I love it anyway. I feel like shit because I haven’t been getting much sleep at all. Luckily, what sleep I have got has been amazing, and not at all like I have had for the last few years. Not really sure why that is. This is (or will be soon) the final rendering of the completed two storey building. I need to now make it look like it’s a house on land, and not a house floating in limbo. I’m hoping the 3d warehouse has some landscaping stuff already, or I’m going to have to do a shit-ton of work. Not that I would mind, but I am sort of on a deadline here.
Holly and I are off to see the Klopeks tonight, after we get some supplies for laying down her floor this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing them and also getting my CODWAW back from Paulie! I still can’t play it without some vga cables, but I miss it. I picked up a set of cables for my PSP for $9.99 last night at EB, so I can now output video to any tv with compnoent inputs. I’m stoked for Patapon! I also grabbed a copy of Facebreaker for the PS3 for $9.99 new! The game must be shit to be that cheap already, but I enjoyed the demo, and I wanted to have something to play while all I have is my PS3. Time Crisis got me hooked again, and now I just tried the UFC Undisputed demo, and I’m dying to do nothing all weekend but play games. I should get to play some on Saturday, if we go visit Jon, but I’m not certain we’re doing that for sure or not. Either way, I’m looking forward to the weekend.

On the weekend I went to the Gorge with Holly, her boys, and my brother. I can’t remember when I was there last. I think I went one day last summer, but I’m not sure. It was a good time. The boys showed me an Indian head carved into the side of the rock face near the metal stairs that I’ve never seen before. Then I showed them a cold cave they had never seen. At the end of the hike, Holly’s oldest, Gage, dropped a stick on my head, just inches from my eye. I had a headache for two days, and still have a mark. Then I got pizza.

I’m just about finished the entire first section of drawings for the book I’m working on. At this point the drawings are getting a lot harder, and require a lot more time and focus, but it’s still a ton of fun. I had a long conversation over the phone with the author of the book on Sunday, and I was pleased to hear that he’s loving everything I’ve done so far. We discussed a few things that I had questions about, and one thing I found that didn’t make sense to me (turned out it wasn’t just me, it really didn’t make sense), and I decided to go straight to Gabriola (after a short visit with my friends Jeff and Dawn), so he and I could work on the fine details of all the drawings together. Originally I had planned to visit my cousin Dave for about a week before making my way over to the little island, but once I start school I will have much less time to work on these drawings, so this gives us a week before I have to focus on making logs into sweet houses. We spoke again last night because I called with a few more questions, and he told me he was happy he had me to do the drawings, because I caught an oversight that someone who wasn’t as handsome and cool familiar with timber design/construction would have missed.
Although all the sketches are fun still, I’m also looking forward to being back on Gabriola, because it will force me to spend less time on the computer. Right now, I basically spend all but an hour of the time I’m awake every day on the computer. My legs are going to hate me once I’m relying on them to bike my ever fattening ass all over BC.

How long do cobras live? Hopefully at least one more year. I have some shit I want to do.

Last night I had a blast playing Rockband and reading Craigslist ads with Holly and Lesley. We even had a special cake, which I may post pictures of later. This morning we got up, played some text twist, and then got ready to go to IHOP, when Holly noticed a huge saint bernard in her front yard. It wasn’t a dog from the neighbourhood, so we called the Humane Society and took him in so he didn’t get hit by a car while wandering around. Lesley named him Booger. He was huge, and cute, and cuddly. I hope his owners get him back. He was micro chipped, but the owners had never registered their address. They at least can get in touch with the vet that did the microchip, and maybe find the owners that way. But hopefully it won’t even come to that.
After we dropped him off we went and looked at the kitties. There was some super cute ones, and a sick tortie.
I feel like shit. Both mentally, and physically. I woke up with a cold yesterday, and I’m being a huge baby about it. I fucking hate being sick like this. On the bright side, Holly stayed home yesterday and napped with me all day.
I’m looking forward to the weekend, and spending it all with Holly. So far our only plan is to go to TigerDirect.ca (it’s weird when business names include domains) so I can spend more money there. I just replaced the sansa e260 I gave to an insane brawd in Victoria. Holly is bringing it home today since I had it shipped to her funeral home. I’m not looking forward to loading it with music again. It took an entire morning the last time, and I’m pretty sure I deleted both the play lists and Media Player 11 off my machine just a couple weeks ago, before deciding I missed it enough to buy another. The other things I want to spend money on are a 1TB my book HDD, and either a 16gb USB stick, or microSD card. Then later that evening, I’m going to get a pair of ladies stoned, and possibly eat cake.
I have to book my flight in the next couple days, and find out about shipping my bike out there. I was considering bringing my trailer, but I’m not certain I will be able to manage it on Gabriola. I can’t remember how heavy it is, but I’m pretty sure I’m kidding myself thinking I can carry a load of groceries from the village to where I’m staying without dying. When I go, I’m going to attempt to pack nothing more than my Crumpler bag with my laptop, and one other backpack. Last time I was really over packed, and I’m hoping that by bringing less I can minimize the amount of cab rides I have to pay for, and make any further traveling I may need to do, easier to do. I still have no idea what I plan to do after this course. I assume I will still have a large portion of this book to illustrate, but after that, no idea…

- Holly and I went to Mandarin and she got the best fortune ever. (above)
- I got propositioned by a shemale (Tgirl is more appropriate apparently, but whatever) on plenty of fish. Then she banned me after I asked how big her “surprise” was.
- I hit the half way point in the drawings for the first section of this book.
- I jumped on a large trampoline for the second time in my life. The first time was about thirteen years ago.
*I’m certain there is more, but I have limited time and can’t think of the rest at the moment. I’ll add to this if I think of anything else.

I got more great news today! I called to confirm that I was going to be able to get into the log building course I want to take next month at the ISBA. I got a chance to speak with the owner of the school about some drawings I did. His reaction was very positive and made me feel pretty good. Then he confirmed that I was going to be able to get into the log course no problem. I called the guy I stayed with last year to see if he could accommodate me staying again, and he said it was no problem. I just have to email him the dates once I decide when I’m going. I’m looking forward to riding my bike around the island in the nice weather, and learning the log stuff is going to be unreal.
I so far have about a third of the drawings done for the first section of the book. I hope to have the drawings for that section all done in the next two weeks. Then I have a second section to complete and possibly a third depending on how those first two go. I’m waiting on two more packages from them now, hopefully they don’t take as long as the last one. I also recieved a copy of the manuscript today in an email, which is going to hopefully make it easier on me at some times. There are small questions I need to ask at times, and if I had the text, I’d probably be able to figure it out on my own. I also now get the first actual copy of the book… for free!
Below is some more drawings I made. They have a couple models, including a tape measure, a pencil, some levels, and a power plane!
