Alpacnophobia

Monday was my last day hanging out here with my parents. In the morning they went for breakfast – as per usual, and I went outside and picked blackberries for about a half hour. When they came back we ate some berries then I packed my stuff and got ready to leave. We decided to go check out the Petroglyph park, since it was literally seconds away from the hotel. It wasn’t a huge place, but it was a nice little walk, and the carvings are somewhat interesting.

Another interesting thing was the fact that someone used white out and sharpie (very poorly) to cover up the word “Indian” on every sign it appeared on (all of them).

After our little petroglyph tour we went over to the grocer near the ferry terminal. My parents bought me a bunch of food to live off, and a few things I needed (spatula, dish soap) for the trailer.

We got in line for the ferry (not fast enough for some) then went and had lunch at the fry truck. That’s no ordinary fry truck, let me tell you. I got a veggie burger, and it came with lots of edible flowers on it, as well as some fresh organic arugala! I never thought of putting arugala on a burger before, but it was fucking fantastic, and I plan to do it again. The woman who owns/operates the fry truck was super friendly, and she told me she grew all the flowers and herbs herself. IF YOU ARE EVER IN NANAIMO, GO TO THE GABRIOLA FERRY TERMINAL FOR DINNER AT THE FRY TRUCK.

Once we made it across, we came to the trailer and dropped all my groceries and goodies off, then we went out for some more exploring on Gabriola. First stop was Silva Bay for ice cream cones, then we tried to find Whale Bone Beach. I’m still unclear as to whether or not the Gabriola Sands is at Whale Bone or if they are two separate places. Either way, we ended up on a nice beach and drank a few beers while walking through the warm water.

My mum asked me to take her to get some pictures of alpacas, so we left the beach after a couple beers, and made our way towards the Surf Pub. We stopped along side the alpaca farm, and I tried to convince my parents to go ask for a tour with me. I think if my dad didn’t want to get going so badly they would have been up for it, so I’ll have to wait to meet that super cute bi-colour alpaca I keep seeing.

We got to the Surf Pub, and as usual, there was a few seals out playing in the water. My mum and I wandered down close to get pictures, then just before the sunset they brought me back to the school and headed off to the ferry.

I came back home and found a half dozen giant spiders in my room. I decided to leave them alive, hoping they eat all the fucking moths and other annoying things that land on me while I try to sleep. I really hope it works.
