I had a really long meeting with James this morning, where we discussed the last few details for the Post and Beam section, and got some things rolling as far as the Bents section goes. I’m trying to eliminate having to do each drawing 15 times this time around, so I’m having James go over every drawing of his with me, before I go putting it into Sketchup. This will prevent me from worrying about things that don’t matter, which happened quite a bit with the last section – too much time was spent on things that seemed important, but turned out to be either wrong, or trivial.

One thing I brought up to James was that I had figured out how to make edges whatever colour I want, which would be handy in showing the “fat” on the Bents style of building. I also showed him some neat effects (like the one above) that I figured out how to apply by accident, while trying to figure out the edges thing.

After the meeting I had to go back and redo 2 drawings from scratch basically. Hopefully now this section is finished. FINISHED.

Now I have even more reason to be done with this book – I so desperately want to just go back to fucking around with sketchup in a fun way and learning new things.
