This morning I decided to get up early and head to the water before James started teaching. I don’t like interrupting him by going down the stairs and through the class during his lessons, so I rolled a couple joints and took my bike down through the public access trail on Coast Rd. When I got there the tide was low, but starting to come back in. I saw a group of starfish that were all different colours, which I’m not sure, but could possibly mean they were in different stages of death. I’m no starfish expert, I just know most of them you see here are bright purple.
I walked around to another spot that James told me about, where you can walk to a small island during low tide. Zack and I tried to find it the other day, but it’s hard to spot unless it’s low tide I guess. When I got there I saw tons of starfish.
Some were the biggest I’ve ever seen, and some were the smallest I’ve ever seen. I even saw one with it’s head cut off (poor guy) and two deformed ones with six legs each! I’m not sure if it is just coincidence, but both the six legged starfish were fairly isolated from the others. As you can see above, they tend to hump each other all day. These ones appeared to be outcasts.
Then on my way out of the woods, back to the school, I found a substitute Holly. It’s not as attractive, and certainly not as much fun to hug or kiss, but it’s a Holly. If I wasn’t going to be back to hug and kiss the real thing in three days I might have taken this one with me.
Now I have to call Jeff and my mum regarding traveling home, then I’m hoping to chat with Holly for a bit before packing and going to sleep early again.
