This robot needs a name. I love him, but I can’t for the life of me think of a decent name. I am having a similar problem with the new kitty. Shirley is a cute name for her, but she doesn’t respond to it at all, and I’d rather give her a name myself than use the one the Humane Society gave her.

I considered naming her Celibacy, but then decided I’d rather not have that in my bed. Then I considered naming her Andor, after the Andorian home planet, but then I thought for short it would make the most sense to call her Andy – no thanks. Today I was thinking about good names based on sci-fi hotties, and I think I’d like to name her Jadzia. Holly refused to let me name her Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan because she hates space and plants. Hopefully I can convince her of some intergalactic babe name, or maybe some video game slut.

Whatever her name is, she’s getting much more comfortable here. She’s made multiple excursions down the stairs, and even spent an entire afternoon in the basement this weekend while Holly and I were painting. I think she’s starting to feel a bond with me too, as now when I come in the room, instead of hiding, she comes and rubs on my legs. Or if she’s hiding already, she usually comes out to say hi. The other cats are still getting use to her, but we don’t have to separate them anymore – they do fine on their own.

Holly is convinced the new cat is retarded. This is partly due to the cats behaviour, as well as the fact that Holly is a big jerk. The cat does fall over, and off things quite often, and she tends to swagger like a drunken sailor when she walks, but I think that’s partially due to her nerves. She’s definitely a ‘fraidy-cat.
