On Thursday James brought home a hitchhiker he picked up, on his way back from Victoria. The kid was headed to Tofino, but then met James and decided to come to Gabriola to stay with him for a little while, before seeking work at the berry farm. James arrived here with this kid (who looked like a total sketchbag) and said he was going to be staying with me in the trailer. I said great, but was thinking “fuck me, I have to share the trailer with some random hitchhiker James picked up?”. The kid introduced himself as Keval, and proceeded to tell me how he was so fortunate to have gotten picked up by James. He then told me that the last guy he was staying with (also someone who picked him up hitching) had gotten drunk with him the night before, and for no reason at all, beat the kid up. He showed me bruises all over his arms and he had a mark on his face which could have been from a fight. At first I felt pretty bad for him, and figured he was a nice enough guy, but I still am weary of having some random dude stay in the place where my computer is, given that I have so much riding on it right now.
James put the kid to work cleaning up the scraps of wood down in the yard, and I took the opportunity to remind James that we didn’t know this kid at all, and that I had not only my machine with all his drawings on it, but also every backup I have of them, stored in that trailer at all times. He quickly realized he couldn’t have that stuff in jeopardy with some sketchy drifter lurking about, so he decided to move the kid into the upstairs of the classroom. I agreed that it would be better, but I honestly just didn’t want the kid here. I use Skype to talk to Holly and it’s not easy to have a private conversation around here. It’s very quite on the island, so sound travels fairly vast distances. I have to yell for her to hear me, and I have to have the volume cranked to hear her. So basically, everyone around is involved in whatever we say. The less people there are to be around, the more opportunity I get to chat with her privately, so one more person (sketchy drifter or not) was just not something I was looking forward to. (more…)
Yesterday I wasted a bunch of the day. I tried to be productive, but I was far from it. It wasn’t totally my fault, but it means I’ll have to work extra hard today. I had intended to get a ton of work done last night after dinner and a nap, but the nap turned into a night’s sleep (almost, I don’t think I’ll ever get a full one of those) and I woke up around 3am. I couldn’t fall back asleep right away, so I played with Bongbot a bit and smoked a joint.
I decided to start today a little differently than most, and I had a shower! I can’t wait to shower in water that doesn’t smell disgusting. I hold my breath the entire time I’m in there, and I have to wonder if I’m even getting clean in water that smells like that.
I really miss Holly and I can’t wait to get back to Ontario to hang with her. I’m sad I’m going to miss another of my closest friends weddings later this month. I was hoping to be back, but I definitely am not making it. If I had more money, I could probably pull it off, but I will just have to settle with looking at everyone’s photos again I suppose, and I’ll have to work my ass off to get all these drawings done so I can leave.
This Bongbot doodle is from a few days ago. i was either too busy or in a poor mood and decided not to upload this one to here the other day. Anyway, it’s titled: Bongbot Pickets The Bulk Barn For Refusing To Carry Bulk Buds, and it’s inspired by my hatred of ridiculously high pot prices.
I just printed a butt load of drawings for James to look over, from the Bents section of the book. I had the bulk of the modeling done ages ago, so it’s made the drawings go fairly quick. My goal is to have 30 done by Wednesday when Holly gets home. It shouldn’t be too hard since I’ve managed to get 22 done since Friday.
This morning I slept in, and then decided to attempt doing some laundry. The washer began to fill fine, but then I left for a minute and the hose burst because it was so old and dry. I stopped the washer and walked over to the school to find some channel locks. I found a spare hose behind the washer, and hooked it up. It leaked too, but in a spot where I could put a bucket to catch the drips. I watched the washer for about 10 minutes, then once I was satisfied that it was going to be okay, I came back here to continue working. I went back to the trailer expecting to have to hang my clothes to dry, only to discover the washer not only didn’t drain, but also leaked a huge puddle onto the floor. I mopped up, then rung out my clothes and hung them to dry. Most are still filthy, but hopefully they smell a little better.
I’m ready to come back to Ontario now.
Above is my latest doodle. It’s called: Bongbot Attempts To Pawn His House For An Eighth Of Bubba Kush And An Over 60 Tittie Magazine That Shows Penetration
This morning I did a couple drawings, then my friend Michelle came from Victoria to visit for the afternoon. We toured the school, smoked a joint, then went and hung out at Drumbeg for a few hours. Then we went to the village so I could get some laundry detergent and a couple other things, then to the surf for an early dinner. Before we left we found this little guy outside the trailer. I’m not sure what he is, but he was tiny.
Holly is back home as of this morning because of rain. Her pictures look like they had a great time otherwise.
I’m going to get to work now so James – who just arrived – thinks I’ve been at it the whole time he was gone.
After I finished working last night I spent some more time playing with Sketchup and my little robot. I call this one “Bongbot Throws A Party To Try And Impress A Touch Lamp And The Alarm Clock Passes Out And Pisses Himself”
I’m having a lot of fun doing these. It’s a good way for me to relax, but still be somewhat productive. Not that these are usefull, but I learn more about Sketchup every time I do one of these, so I figure it must be helping me get faster / better at it.
If you’re curious, here is what one of these looks like before I add all the effects.
Work time now. I think Holly is home later. I hope she had lots of fun. I’ve missed her.
I have gotten a few drawings done today, but I spent a bunch of time fucking around too. I’m taking a break now because my back is killing me from leaning over trying to look at the screen.
I haven’t seen another person at all today. It’s kind of nice, but it makes breaks less fun. I prefer to have someone to converse with. Usually either Dave or Ian is around whenever I take a break, so we chat for a few minutes, then I get bored and come back to work.
I was intending to write mainly to relax and just do nothing for a minute, but I’m already bored of it. I think instead I will give my computer a rest, and shut it down for 10 minutes while I go smoke a joint.
Oh, and that picture up there is of my first tattoo in almost 6 years. I use that finger to wipe my tears whenever I think about Captain, so it seemed like an appropriate knuckle tattoo. Jeff hooked me up with his friend Steve at Sacred Heart in Vancouver. He was quick and fairly light handed, and despite what I used to think, it DOES actually feel good to feel that feeling again. I always used to think people were just being douchebags when they said things like that, but I guess they were right. Douchebags.

I decided I didn’t feel like getting right to work this morning, so I chose to play around with my little chronic robot some more. I call this one “Bongbot Attempts to Corrupt a Touch Lamp With Weed and Atari Because He’s Lonely”
Here is a larger version (because I know you want to hang it on your wall), and here is a different version.
Now it’s time to get to work, then I think I might go pick some blackberries. Not too sure where to find them on this part of the island, so I’ll have a bit of an adventure.
I did about 14 hours of work today. I got 10 drawings done! My back is sore, my eyes are going nuts, and I’m completely fucking wired because I haven’t given my mind a rest since 6:30 this morning. I had multiple meetings with James today, and got a ton of other work done (not just the drawings). I’m finally ready to call it a day, so I leave you with this blog:

I call it “Bongbot Doesn’t Care If It’s Raining, He’s Blazin’!”
I just made this in Sketchup. It took me about 30 minutes to make, and then 30 more to mess around with all the cool styles you can use. I saved about a dozen images, but I’ll share just two with you little blog.
I hope I’m not a zombie tomorrow. I actually had fun working on this stuff today.
Oh, I thought I should mention that one of my favourite albums of all time is “Prick”. I have listened to that album about 15 times in the last 40 hours. I love it so much. It made me think about what other albums I love that much, so I’m going to have to make a list on here of what my favourite albums are.
Bedtime. I hope Holly is having fun.
